Nice to Meetcha
Meet Krazy Larry, a NYC designer of women's pants. My first encounter with Larry was crazy. He called to see how I liked the sample pants that his sales person had sent me. I thought, "What?" I'd never had an actual designer call to see how I liked his product. There is usually way too much attitude for a designer to care what the averag person thought. But, I guess that's why they call him Krazy Larry. He wants to make the best women's pants possible. To do that he has to ask what women want. Hmmm...this is intereting. But, then I had to break some bad news.
I had an intern who thought the box of pants was trash. She never looked inside and it was sitting next to the door to go out. So, she threw them away. I never even got the pants. When I told him this story he said, "Well, if your morons threw out the pants then you missed having the best pants ever...I have to send you more. How many girls do you have in your store? I'm sending everyone pants so the hotsie totsies will know what their missing too." This all comes out in a gravelly, New York accent with a touch of southern drawl thrown in for my benefit. I was laughing so hard I was crying.
How could someone be so passionate about women's pants. I just didn't get it, but hey, he was sending me pants. So we got them a few days later and Larry called again. He told me he wanted me to spill something on them. Not normal...this guy wasn't normal. He said just do it and throw them in the wash. I did what he asked and pulled them out of the dryer looking just like new. Unbelievable, a designer who calls his clients and makes his product better than what he promises. Not normal. The Krazy Larry name is making more sense every minute.
So, I started carrying his entire line. I mean where else can you find hot pink capri pants in October for breast cancer awareness month? He makes huge promises and delivers every time. I have never experienced anything like working with this wonderfully eccentric man with crazy stories who is great at what he does. The stories get wild. As you get to know him through this blog just remember that while he is crazy, his pants are fabulous. He makes the best women's pants around!
